Momma, I want to give all of us permission to REST!

Rest looks like:

Good quality sleep at night.
A power nap during the day.
Closing the door to our rooms and meditating for 10 minutes.
Saying a prayer in quiet stillness.
Reading a fiction book, just because.

Going on a walk by ourselves.
Spending time in nature alone.
A bath complete with bubbles, a candle, and a good book.
And if we’re really going all out? A massage, a pedicure, a facial, a manicure, etc.

We must do everything we can to MAKE time for rest.

rest

Sometimes, my rest time comes as soon as my husband comes home from work, and I get a 20-minute break before I start dinner to dive into my fiction book. And I DO IT! Because it’s so rejuvenating!

Sometimes my rest time comes 20 minutes before my kids wake up so that I can pray, or meditate, in silence. And I DO IT! Because it’s so rejuvenating!

Sometimes my rest time comes in the middle of the day while my kids watch a movie and I’m down the hall for 20 minutes with the door closed. And I DO IT! Because it’s so rejuvenating!

I’ve got 3 kids who are 4, 2, and 1. And I am working hard to MAKE time to rest daily.

I was challenged by my mindset coach recently to create a rest ritual for every day, every week, every month, and every year. He challenged me: things that are business-related don’t count. And going to the grocery store by myself doesn’t count. Only things that are for ME. No agenda. True rest and recovery.

I KNOW I am a better mom when I make time to rest. That way? My kids get the best of me, instead of the rest of me.

Let’s commit to resting better. So that we can play better.

❤
