My mom’s family lived in the Netherlands during World War II. As a child their stories came out in small hesitant pieces. I was too young to understand why they didn’t want to share more. Now I know. There are some things you don’t want to remember.
I’ve been grateful that over the years, they have written and shared more of their experiences with us. History feels different when it’s personal. Each member of my family has been impacted and shaped by their stories. Their examples give me courage to continue moving forward when life is difficult, and a deep appreciation for the choices and freedoms we experience each day.
In today’s podcast episode I share a favorite family story of ours and talk about how to use a good story to help to strengthen our kids. Enjoy!
